Governors Island Residency 2018

Governors Island Residency 2018

Works on Water and Underwater New York invite you to join visual, performing, and literary artists working on, in, and with the water on Governors Island this summer. Our artist residency program provides an incubator space for diverse investigations of water in the urban environment. Our open studios, performances, monthly conversations, and exhibition feature work from around the world and invite the public into a dialogue about the emerging field of Water Art. Please join us as we work to build and strengthen the community of artists and practitioners working in water-based planning, science, policy, and art to define the future of our waterways.

Residency on Governors Island

We are partnering with Works on Water, a collective of artists and curators who work with water in response to the changing climate, to to host an artist's residency on Governors Island from May-October 2018. Visual, performing, and literary artists (individuals, collaborations, collectives) will develop work and build connections to the water in house 5B in historic Nolan Park.

Artists in Residence

We are thrilled to welcome 54 artists to the house in Nolan Park this summer. We are excited to support and grow the community of artists making art that works on, in, and with water.
